Pizza Hut Japan Launches New Collaboration With Tamagotchi, Featuring Pink-Dough Pizza

July 30, 2024

Pizza Hut has announced a new collaboration with Tamagotchi that will feature pink-dough pizza in a fun promotion that’s sure to entice customers.

Sora News is reporting, however, that this fun promotion will only be available in Japan, which will definitely disappoint American customers. Twenty years have passed since Bandai unveiled Tamagotchi Connection, a groundbreaking new handheld virtual pet with an infrared connection capability, to the globe. To commemorate this significant anniversary, the model is being reintroduced for a fresh generation to adore.

Fans of Tamagotchis have even more reason to celebrate: Pizza Hut Japan is getting in on the action with a brand-new collaborative lineup that includes eight unique menu items, stickers, and customer incentives.

One of the new items is called the Hut Melts Pink Plus Fluffy Bacon. It’s a Hut Melt that comes with a serving of fries and two kinds of dipping sauces: honey mustard, which is yellow like Mametchi, and basil mayo, which has a green color evocative of Kuchipatchi. The Hut Melts are a new portable pizza style. The pie itself has been meticulously crafted to be a shade of pink that matches the new Tamagotchi 20th anniversary model — the first time the restaurant has made pink dough, according to Pizza Hut.

If you need more motivation to try the unique Hut Melts, Pizza Hut Japan is offering all customers who buy it a free original sticker with a random Tamagotchi character turned into a Pizza Hut employee. Additionally, you will receive a virtual “pizza” item when you use your Tamagotchi Connection and enter the password on the reverse of the sticker.

The promotion began on Monday, July 29, and will run through Sept. 1.

Meanwhile, in the United States, after closing 15 of its locations, a Pizza Hut franchisee with over 140 restaurants in the Midwest and South filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

According to Nation’s Restaurant News, franchisee EYM Pizza L.P. and associated companies filed for bankruptcy in the Eastern District of Texas on July 22. The outlet verifies that two creditors are listed in the bankruptcy case, along with related companies located in Wisconsin and Indiana. According to the statement, the franchisee owes Manufacturers Bank over $21 million and Pizza Hut a little under $2.25 million.
