July 29, 2024

MacRumors has gathered that Apple now “plans to start rolling out Apple Intelligence in software updates by October, arriving several weeks after the launch of iOS 18.”

iOS 18 is set to release this fall and introduce a host of new features and enhancements. At its very foundation is the new Apple Intelligence that’s available on iPhone 15 Pro models poised to offer personalized, context-aware assistance to help assist with organizing daily tasks.

Furthermore, the new update will bring more advanced writing tools, including text summarization and improved notification prioritization. There will also be a revamped Siri with enhanced language comprehension. Customization options will also be increased with a newly designed Home Screen and Control Center. As a result, icons should also have a revamped appearance.

The Passwords App is supposed to bring together unified credential management with secure syncing across all connected devices. The Maps app will add topographic maps and offline hiking routes, while Game Mode will be made to increase performance for mobile gaming. Tap to Cash for private payments is another new feature that will be added to the Wallet app along with offers expanded rewards and installment payment options.

The Apple TV App will include a new InSight feature that will provide more content information. The Home App enhances guest access controls and supports hands-free unlocking. Privacy and security are strengthened with better control over contact sharing and improved Bluetooth privacy. Additionally, iOS 18 is set to introduce more accessibility features, an improved calculator, and all kinds of enhancements to multiple apps.

AirPods will benefit from a hands-free Siri interaction feature and improved audio quality with personalized spatial audio. The Notes app will finally support live audio transcription and collapsible sections. The Health app will combine features with the Journal app to track journaling activities.

The Photos app receives a major redesign, with better organization and a first-ever Carousel feature for showcasing selected content. Messages will be able to support new types of text effects, along with message scheduling and RCS messaging. Safari will have automatic information highlights and a more intelligent Reader mode.

Moreover, Apple and the International Association of Machinists have tentatively agreed on a labor deal for Apple’s first unionized U.S. retail store in Towson, Maryland. The agreement, pending ratification by the store’s 85 workers, includes a 10% pay increase over three years, scheduling improvements, severance guarantees, and limits on contract employees. This follows the store’s union vote in June 2022.
