Grubhub Teams Up With Albertsons To Deliver Groceries Nationwide
June 25, 2024
In a strategic move to enhance its grocery delivery services, Grubhub has announced a partnership with Albertsons Companies Inc., one of the leading grocery retailers in the United States. This collaboration will integrate nearly 1,800 Albertsons Cos. stores into Grubhub’s Marketplace. These stores include well-known banners such as Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s, ACME, and Tom Thumb. Customers can access these stores through the Grocery section on both the Grubhub app and website, based on their delivery location.
This partnership marks a significant expansion in Grubhub’s grocery offering. Craig Whitmer, Grubhub’s vice president of new verticals, highlighted the company’s commitment to providing customers with convenient grocery ordering options. “Through this exciting partnership, we’re giving consumers more choices while maximizing value so that they find exactly what they need on Grubhub delivered right to their door,” Whitmer said in the press release.
Albertsons Companies, known for its dedication to convenience, choice, and variety, sees this partnership as a natural extension of its services. Amber Kappa, vice president of business development and digital innovation at Albertsons Cos., emphasized the benefits to customers who can now receive fresh produce, household essentials, and regional favorites directly from Albertsons stores with a simple tap on the Grubhub app.
In addition to expanding its grocery delivery service, this partnership includes integration with Grubhub+, Grubhub’s loyalty program. Grubhub+ offers customers access to unlimited $0 delivery on eligible orders, further enhancing the value proposition for frequent users. Albertsons Cos. becomes Grubhub’s first national grocery partner following its collaboration with Mercato, which focuses on independent grocers.
Grubhub’s continuous efforts to broaden its product offerings demonstrate its commitment to becoming a comprehensive delivery service. By adding grocery and convenience partners and expanding merchant menu capabilities, Grubhub supports thousands more images and items, catering to a diverse range of consumer needs.
