Dunkin’ National Drive-Thru Day Offerings Are Here
July 23, 2024
Dunkin’ has announced its National Drive-Thru Day offerings, and they range from free doughnuts to free Padres tickets. National Drive-Thru Day is Wednesday, July 24. Here’s what else we know about the company’s efforts.
Dunkin’ Will Participate in National Drive-Thru Day
Since its westward expansion into California, Dunkin’ has been trying to drive up business in the state. Now, according to Fox 5, it’s upping the ante.
Tickets to the Padres game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 31 will be given to the 100th customer to pass through the drive-thru at Dunkin’ located at 1770 Rosecrans St. in Point Loma.
The first 99 visitors through the drive-thru will receive $5 off a gift card and Dunkin’ goods. Giveaways are available to all visitors who use the drive-thru lane to place an order or pick up a mobile order. This Wednesday, July 24, at 4 a.m. local time, the offer will go live.
Late last month, Dunkin’ announced its latest menu additions in a press release. Among the nostalgic s’mores-inspired sweets are the Tornado Twist SPARKD’ Energy Drink ($3 via the Dunkin’ mobile app starting July 1) and S’mores Cold Brew, Bonfire S’mores Frozen Coffee, and S’mores Donut. Additionally, a mouthwatering new selection featuring the Hot Honey Bacon Sandwich and more is available for a limited time nationwide in collaboration with Mike’s Hot Honey. These new offerings complement last month’s jaw-dropping highlights, which included the Green Goddess Wrap and Kiwi Watermelon Dunkin’ Refresher.
“As summer heats up, we’re excited to introduce these innovative flavors to our guests,” said Beth Turenne, vice president of category management at Dunkin’, in a statement in the press release. “Whether you’re cooling down with S’mores Cold Brew, turning up the heat with our Hot Honey Breakfast Sandwich, or fueling up with a $3 Tornado Twist SPARKD’ Energy, we’re delivering the beloved tastes of summer that our customers crave.”
Drumming Up Business
Dunkin’ is just the latest fast-food chain trying to drum up business in a faltering economy. This latest attempt on National Drive-Thru Day is just one of many efforts.
Like Dunkin’, McDonald’s has been trying to get people through its doors with meal deals and promotions.
The massive fast-food chain revealed last month that its $5 meal deal would be returning for a short period of time, starting on Tuesday, June 25.
The offer comes with a four-piece chicken nuggets, fries, a drink, and a McChicken or McDouble. In light of rising food prices and financial pressures, this initiative aims to provide consumers with options at fair prices.
In reaction to consumer backlash against the fast-food industry, this program was introduced. McDonald’s posted mixed first-quarter results, with U.S. same-store sales slightly behind projections, while rising pricing pushed up average checks. The organization noticed that as a result of the increasing prices, customers are becoming more economical with their spending, highlighting the importance of affordability in attracting diners.
The limited-edition “Grandma McFlurry” was unveiled concurrently. This delicious dessert is made with a blend of vanilla ice cream, syrup, and crunchy candy pieces. Like the old candies that are often associated with grandmothers, this new treat is supposed to evoke happy memories.
What’s more, McDonald’s has pledged in recent months to resume spending on value meals, special discounts, and freebies in an effort to boost traffic.
Finally, for the first time since just before the COVID-19 epidemic, Burger King, Wendy’s, KFC, Taco Bell, and other fast-food companies have also started to provide value menus and promotions. Certain investors are concerned that a pricing war won’t result in a significant increase in traffic; instead, it will simply reduce the margins of the QSR industry.
