July 10, 2024
Krispy Kreme is celebrating its 87th anniversary by offering a dozen original glazed doughnuts for just 87 cents on Friday, July 12.
Qualifying for this deal is easy; all customers need to do is first make a purchase of at least a dozen doughnuts at full price. The promotion allows for a limit of up to two dozen doughnuts purchased in-person or while in a drive-thru, but only a single dozen can be claimed for online purchases. Customers can activate the special deal online by using the code “BDAY.”
“Treating our fans on our birthday is a long-time tradition. A dozen Original Glazed® doughnuts for just 87 cents when you buy any dozen is a sweet way for us to thank our fans who have kept us going all these years.”

Additionally, throughout July, Krispy Kreme is celebrating Independence Day in an ongoing fashion by offering up two free extra treats weekly. On Fridays, rewards members who purchase anything from a Krispy Kreme location will qualify for a free iced coffee. Every Tuesday, rewards members who make any purchase at Krispy Kreme are eligible for a free specialty doughnut depending on the date.
The first batch of free specialty doughnuts was available on Tuesday, July 9, and the options included:
- Kit Kat Cookie Dream Doughnut
- Kit Kat Crunch Doughnut
- Kit Kat Salted Caramel Brownie Doughnut
The future specialty doughnuts for the rest of the month will be announced on Krispy Kreme’s social media pages prior to the dates.
Krispy Kreme began its journey on July 13, 1937, when Vernon Rudolph sold doughnuts using a secret recipe in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Though he initially made the treats for grocery stores, he soon started selling them directly to passersby. By the 1940s and ’50s, Krispy Kreme had multiple stores. To ensure consistency, they developed a mix plant, distribution system, and their own doughnut-making equipment, focusing on innovation and automation.
