Porsche Macan SUV Gets New Models

Porsche has expanded its all-electric Macan SUV lineup with two new models: a rear-wheel-drive Macan and the high-powered Macan 4S. Both of these models are advertised as having a slew of new features.
New Rear-Wheel-Drive Macan
- Battery and Motor: Equipped with a 100 kWh battery and a rear-axle motor producing 250 kW (335 horsepower) and 415 pound-feet of torque. It can generate up to 265 kW (355 horsepower) with Launch Control.
- Performance: 0 to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds, top speed of 136 mph.
- Weight: 243 pounds lighter than the Macan 4 due to the absence of all-wheel drive.
- Efficiency: Features a 480-amp pulse inverter with silicon carbide transistors for increased efficiency.
Macan 4S
- Battery and Motors: Features a powerful 600-amp SiC pulse inverter and dual motors (front and rear), producing a combined 330 kW (442 horsepower) with overboost power of 380 kW (509 horsepower).
- Performance: 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, top speed of 149 mph.
- Suspension and Handling: Comes standard with Adaptive Air Suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), as well as optional Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) and rear-axle steering.
Common Features
- Charging: 800-volt architecture allows DC fast charging up to 270 kW, enabling 10%-80% charge in about 21 minutes.
- Design and Aerodynamics: Sleek design with range-optimized aerodynamics (cw = 0.25), new Slate Grey Neo exterior color, and a 20-inch Macan S wheel option.
- Off-Road Design Package: Available for all models, includes a front bumper with increased approach angle, adaptive air suspension, and enhanced ground clearance.
- Interior and Technology: New Porsche Driver Experience with a mix of digital and analog controls, including a 12.6-inch curved display, 10.9-inch passenger display, head-up display with augmented reality, and customizable ambient lighting.
Pricing and Availability
- Macan: Starting at $75,300.
- Macan 4S: Starting at $84,900.
- Deliveries in the U.S. are expected to begin in Q4 2024.
