Best Buy’s Black Friday in July Goes Head-to-Head With Amazon Prime Day

Typically, Black Friday is held the Friday after Thanksgiving in November, but Best Buy is delivering the savings earlier than ever.

Best Buy’s Black Friday sale in July coincides with Amazon Prime Day. During the sale, Best Buy promises to deliver Black Friday-level deals for those looking to upgrade their tech or purchase gifts at a discount. During the three-day event, which ends on July 17, Best Buy is offering deals on smartwatches, gaming, and entertainment from brands like Apple, Samsung, Jabra, and more. Plus, My Best Buy rewards members get a $50 bonus reward when they spend $500 or more.

The best part of these deals? You don’t have to be an Amazon Prime member to save.


Amazon’s discounts may cover a wider variety of product categories. However, Best Buy has a history of beating Amazon’s deals in several major tech categories.

Besides a deep discount, some great store deals on major electronics include add-ons that are only available during the sale. These include free computer security software for six months, two free items if you purchase a gaming laptop, three months of Apple TV+ if you purchase a television, and a free $50 gift card with a purchase of an Xbox Series X.

The store tends to have more TVs and laptops on sale, leaving consumers with a variety to choose from. In contrast, Amazon’s deals link to third-party sellers, which may not give shoppers the same guarantee as if they buy directly from the website.


There is another distinct difference between Amazon Prime and Best Buy regarding shopping deals. Best Buy generally offers more discounts to all of its shoppers. However, there are some deeper discounts for their paid My Best Buy customers. If you’re an Amazon Prime member, you may have access to some invite-only deals that Best Buy doesn’t provide.

Finally, if you can’t make it to Black Friday in July, Best Buy also hosts regular “Best Buy Drops.” This feature is available only on the store’s mobile app.
