Jack in the Box & Deadpool Collaboration: What We Know

July 18, 2024

Jack in the Box has teamed up with the upcoming film, “Deadpool & Wolverine,” for a unique collaboration. The collab features a unique menu with limited-time offerings themed around the Marvel Studios’ flick. Let’s take a look at what we know about the latest promotion from the fast-food favorite.

Jack in the Box & Deadpool: A New Menu

In honor of the unlikely superhero’s favorite food, chimichangas, Jack in the Box is now featuring Mini Chimi Bang Bangs, a snackable version of the popular treat, on its menu.

From July 15 to Sept. 15, Jack stores around the country, Jackinthebox.com, and the Jack app will all have the Mini Chimi Bang Bangs, according to a press release. As early as July 8, Jack Pack members had early access to the brand-new menu item on the app. The Mini Chimis are available in Classic and Sauced & Loaded varieties, and they also include limited-edition packaging modeled after “Deadpool & Wolverine” to satisfy every craving at an amazing price.

You can order the Mini Chimi Bang Bangs in three ways:

  • The Southwest Chicken Mini Chimi Bang Bangs are served with a side of the famous Jack in the Box taco sauce. You get three small chimichangas that are stuffed with seasoned, shredded chicken, corn, black beans, herbs, and southwest flavors.
  • Three tiny, crunchy chimichangas with shredded chicken, corn, black beans, herbs, and southwest flavors are included in the Sauced & Loaded Southwest Chicken Mini Chimi Bang Bangs. They are also laden with two kinds of cheddar cheese, lettuce, and taco sauce.
  • Five brand-new Southwest Chicken Mini Chimi Bang Bangs, curly fries, onion rings, and churros with an assortment of sauces are included in Jack’s Fan Favs Box, making this option a treat for every foodie.

In addition, deals on the big screen are also available at Jack in the Box. Jack Pack members who spend $20 or more on online or app ordering will receive a $5 Fandango credit in celebration of the theatrical debut of “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Since great things often come in unexpected pairings, fans can also get the Waffle Sticks and Spicy Chicken Strips in unique packaging modeled after “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

Finally, Jack is giving away a limited-edition Jack in the Box antenna ball with a Deadpool theme to the first 100 customers at each store who purchase a Fan Favs Box.

A New Fast-Food Contender?

This latest promotion is yet another sign that Jack in the Box is vying for a spot as a major contender in the fast-food wars.

Earlier this month, the massive fast-food chain declared that it is opening eight new sites by 2025 and is making a significant return to Chicago following a four-decade hiatus. The company has “identified more than 125 potential trade area opportunities for future corporate and franchise development” around the Chicagoland area, which signals the start of an ambitious expansion strategy.

“This strategic expansion into Chicago allows us to not only satisfy long-standing customer demand for our brand, but also to become a key member in the region’s thriving restaurant scene. We’re excited to bring our unique menu where customers can order any item at any time — day or night and we’re confident Jack in the Box will quickly become a favorite local destination,” said Darin Harris, CEO of Jack in the Box, according to corporate news.

Per its official website, Jack in the Box was founded in 1951 and is headquartered in San Diego, California. In 2022, the brand underwent expansion as it paid $585 million to acquire the Mexican American fast-food chain Del Taco.

Statista reports that sales of Jack in the Box reached $846.2 million in 2023 and have been steadily increasing. Following a $1.18 billion sales peak in 2011, the brand’s revenues fell into a plateau ranging from $700 million to $900 million for the following six years. After falling even more during the pandemic and hitting all-time lows in the $300 million area, sales doubled in 2022 and have increased consistently ever since.

CEO Lenny Comma left Jack in the Box in 2019 thanks to financial instability and pressure from franchisees. Several restaurants reported losses in 2018, with 300 locations averaging $36,000 in annual losses despite corporate expense reductions. The firm launched a two-year expansion plan following this challenging time, and by late 2022, it had secured 72 new multi-unit franchisees to establish 303 new locations, including its first in Arkansas and its first in Florida in three decades.
